The Mysteries of the Gospel of Thomas
Wednesday Nights in March 2008

“These are the secret words which the living Jesus spoke and which Didymus Judas Thomas wrote.
And He said, ‘He who finds the interpretation of these words will not taste death.’” Thus begins one
of the most provocative textual finds of all time, the Gospel of Thomas. Discovered in 1945 in Egypt,
it has become the best known of many “alternative” gospels and scriptures that did not make it into
our Bible. But why didn’t it? And who decided? What does it say, and what might it mean for us and
for our understanding of Jesus and the origins of Christianity? This series attempts to answer these
and many other questions about this most interesting – and controversial – account of Jesus’ teachings.

  • Four Wednesdays – March 5, 12, 19, and 26 – from 7:30 to 9:00 pm each night
  • Classes held at the Harmony House, the red brick house on the property of Prince of Peace
    Lutheran Church, 10250 Haynes Bridge Road in Alpharetta – about 2 miles east of GA-400, off
